On the way to work I scraped my rear bumper in a speed bump.

I am always very careful, and today was no different, slow 45 degree in, slow out. The back is lower than usual, I might need to start selling my things.

I scrape my front bumper every single damn time I drive my car because of the huge speedbumps here. There's a guy with a stanced car on my street who must have to drive about 5 miles around the edge of town to avoid them all.

Aaaaaand this is why I hate traditional stance. Its impractical. I have been thinking of a new kind of stance, I call it RSS or Rational Suspension Setup. For instance, an example of RSS would be to take a Ford Ranger, and lower it to sedan height like this, this is an example of RSS:

This is regular stance, its incredibly dumb:

For reference, here's a stock Ranger:

Yep around town it's useless. All the "coolness" you have by making you car look like that is soon erased when you have to crawl around town at 5mph and hold everyone up. I like to honk my horn at them when they slow me down to take a speed bump sideways because it makes them very angry.

New rule: If your car's side skirt is touching the ground, its not a car anymore, its yard art

How much to get the hydractive system repaired ? I imagine it must be quite expensive, seeing how just the "simple" rear axel on my Xsara costs around 2,000€ to replace....

Speaking of the Xsara, I always scratch the front bumper, but on those huge concrete thingy in parking space (the one used to stop your tires...). Whether I'm running the winter tires or the summer tires (as they are low profiles tires, don't judge me, I bought them on the wheel for 300€ the set and they were brand new).

Worse than most cars it's size. The bumper is actually lower than it looks in the photo because it curves down to a lip. The lip is mostly ground off.

Agreed. Even on the rare car it looks good, it still looks comical on the roads.

Last time around $3500 for a simpler fix, maybe I just need to refill the nitrogen balls. I have that same problem, but the parking sensor help a lot.

Huh, it does look low, I was thinking about the off-roady version.

Sometimes I wish I had the 4x4 version for the roads here. The 2wd versions are quite low at the front because they have a lot of rake, presumably for handling. The diesel is even more likely to scrape because it has 100kg more over the front wheels than the petrol.

The only kind of "stance" I approve is when the car rides on bags. There's a guy in my neighbourhood with a newer Mazda B Series (re-badged Ranger) that when parked, is practically resting on the ground. When it begins moving, it rises up to about sedan/compact car height. Now that's cool.

But then there's the guy with the Lexus IS that's so low, in the Winter he plows snow on the highway as he drives (sometimes doing a better job than the snow plows) and the ground effects are torn to shreds. That's an utter fail.

Kinja'd!!! Mercedes Streeter > Denver Is Stuck In The 90s

No, no, your RSS idea is awesome! My point was that if you absolutely have to do extreme "grounded to the ground" stance, at least put it on bags so it could be driven like a somewhat normal car.
